Founded by Rob Cardinal, Cardinal Crane is Canada’s leading Indigenous-owned crane service provider. Backed by over 20 years of industry expertise and a global project resume, we specialize in complex lifts, operator placement, and project oversight in the most demanding environments. Our team combines deep technical knowledge with operational excellence—from mobilizing and managing super lift cranes like the LR 11350 and CC 8800/6800 to executing precision rigging projects in oil and gas, construction, and heavy industrial sectors.

Meet Rob Cardinal

Founder. Operator. Industry leader. Mentor.

Rob Cardinal is one of North America’s foremost experts in crane operation and heavy lift consulting. A proud member of the Cree Nation from Saddle Lake Reserve, with deep ties to the Mikisew Cree Nation, Rob brings more than two decades of leadership in Canada’s crane and heavy lift sector.

From humble beginnings to high-stakes projects across the continent, Rob has built a reputation rooted in safety, strategy, and purpose. His experience spans lift planning, operations management, safety investigation, and project supervision.

Rob founded Cardinal Crane to serve industry with excellence—and to create real pathways for Indigenous workers to lead, grow, and thrive. He mentors new operators, helps clients meet Indigenous procurement goals, and ensures every project contributes to long-term prosperity.
